Vinka Sidra from Ecuador

Vinka Sidra is a Sidra variety coffee grown on Vinka Farm, located in the Masanamaca area of Loja, in the high-altitude southern Andes of Ecuador (approximately 1660 m above sea level). The farm is managed by María Fernanda Tapia and Carlos Iñiguez, both of whom are researchers in biological and environmental sciences, which reflects their strong emphasis on sustainability and biodiversity.

Sidra Variety

First planted on the farm in 2020, this Sidra exhibits bright and elegant acidity, with complex and layered aromatics.

Climate & Geography

The farm is located at the ecotone between cloud forest and dry mountain shrubland, where alternating moist and dry airflows between morning and evening create ideal growing conditions for the Sidra variety.

Farm & Production Background

  • Sustainable Practices: The land was converted from former pastureland into a coffee farm. Each year, they undertake soil restoration and promote biodiversity, integrating scientific agriculture with ecological harmony.
  • In addition to coffee cultivation, María Fernanda Tapia and Carlos Iñiguez are active in conservation and agricultural science research.
  • They also advocate for direct trade and transparent pricing mechanisms in the coffee industry.
