La Estrella del Ostro
La Estrella del Ostro is a distinctive Colombian coffee cultivated by small-scale coffee growers from the town of Belén, located in the southern region of La Plata, Huila. These producers share a unique microclimate that fosters the growth of high-quality coffee.
The name “La Plata,” meaning “silver,” reflects the region’s history when Spanish colonists arrived and developed numerous silver mines.
The coffee’s name, “La Estrella del Ostro” (Star of the South), is inspired by the Southern Star that shines brightly above the mountains where this coffee is grown. On clear nights, the star is visible, pointing toward the mountain peaks of La Plata.
Caravela Coffee plays a pivotal role in this region, providing dedicated agronomists and quality analysts to work closely with local farmers, ensuring sustainable practices and exceptional coffee quality.
